Ocean Life 3D Art Project

Items Needed:  Shoebox or small Packing Box
Blue Construction Paper (for background ocean wave scene)
Brown Paper Bag (tear into pieces and wad/scrunch up to form rocks in the ocean)
Images of Ocean Life / Sea Animals copied from the internet and cut out
White "school" glue such as Elmer's
Clear Blue Cellophane (optional) to attach to front of box - which I obviously did not
use for this craft, as I did not have any on hand.

If you prefer, you may cover the outside of the box with the blue construction paper and draw ocean waves on it.  More sea animals could be added to that as well.

Preschool Autumn Art (paint)...

"The Colors of Autumn" by: Rylan, age 4

(By the way, a piece of cardboard makes a great canvas!)

What's it?  "Swirling Autumn Leaves" ?

"A a" is for "antlers" (craft project)...

Theme of the lesson:  "A a" is for "antlers" (Phonics - short "a" sound)

Animals having antlers:  deer, caribou (and their habitats - forests, the Arctic tundra); differences between deer and caribou; the difference between antlers and horns - and some animals with horns such as the musk ox and bulls (Science)

The Appalachian Mountains, Alaska, Northern Canada - find on a globe and discuss the climate (Geography)

My almost 4 year old grandson observed that antlers "look like a tree" without leaves, so we went out to our back yard and found some branches to use for our deer craft project.  For the background, we used the cardboard tray from a 24 pk. case of bottled water (recycling).

This project is now hanging on our classroom wall.

Homemade Fishing Pole & Fish Craft Project

A wooden spoon and yarn (or string) became a fishing pole.
Attach a magnet to the end of the string.  Attach a paper clip to the mouth of each fish.
Fish are made from card stock paper.

Recycling Cardboard Packing Inserts ..

Cardboard packing inserts that come with the 24 pk. bottled drinking water make great  art/painting "canvases" for young children.  These cardboard inserts can also make nice, sturdy backgrounds for making visual or learning aids.  Below, you will see one of these inserts used as a background on which I have glued winter picture cards to teach my preschooler the concepts of  "same/different" and  "more".

Visual/Learning Aids do not have to be fancy or professional-looking.  Self-made aids work just as well and will be much cheaper than purchasing them ready-made.

The winter picture cards are from www.busybeekidsprintables.com entitled "Winter Memory Game".
