The writer makes some great points. The short video at the end is fantastic!

A public school education is NOT "free", nor is it advantageous to your child...
On August 22, 2012, the Fox News program "The Five", as reported by Juan Williams, revealed (as I understood Mr. Williams to say) that the national average cost a family spends for public school "back-to-school" supplies per child, per year is $683. Wow! That doesn't even include the curriculum. On the other hand, the average cost a typical homeschooling family spends per child, per year is approximately $200 LESS - and that lower cost INCLUDES the curriculum!
On top of the "back-to-school" costs that the families of public school kids must pay in order to receive a "free" education for their children, the government spends $10,000 (or more) per child, per year of taxpayer money and still manages to provide a poor quality education to our children.
Studies conducted in recent years by the National Assessment of Education Progress have shown that two-thirds of 4th grade children in the U.S.A. cannot read at a proficient level; three-fourths of them cannot write well; and four-fifths don't do well in math. (source of my information: Bringing Up Boys by Dr. James Dobson, licensed psychologist and family counselor)
A former Secretary of Education, Dr. Bill Bennett who holds a Ph.D from the University of Texas and a law degree from Harvard said this, "In the third grade, in math and science, our children score near the top compared to third graders in other industrialized nations. In the eighth grade, they score in the middle. In the twelfth grade, they score at the bottom. In short, the longer you stay in school in America, the dumber you get, relative to kids in other countries." (from the book: Bringing Up Boys; emphasis mine) Dr. Bennett pointed out that standardized test scores reveal that homeschoolers out rank public schoolers by 37 points! The test scores of kids who attend public school average at the 50th percentile level, while the scores of homeschoolers average at the 87th percentile! Dr. Bennett went on to say that "It (the public school system of education) is a dumbing-down process...There is no competition in the system. There's very little accountability in the system." Could 'tenure' be one of the reasons for that? Think about it!
Then there is the bullying! A study sponsored by the Kaiser Foundation showed that 74% of kids aged 8 to 11 years, and 86% of teens reported being bullied or teased by their peers; and one out of every five children are actually frightened in the classroom. ( - Bringing Up Boys )
Homeschooling is more economical for the family than public school, and it saves taxpayers alot of money. Plus, homeschooling provides children with a better education (and much better social skills) than the public schools. So, parents, if your child is struggling in school, has become rebellious, or is being bullied and has developed fears; try homeschooling! You just might end up becoming pleasantly surprised at the positive effect upon your child.

School in Washington State Uses Planned Parenthood Curriculum to Teach 5th Grade Kids Oral & Anal Sex...
California public schools aren't alone in their effort to over-ride parental objections to introduce debauchery to our young public school children. It may soon make its way to a public school near you!

Homeschooling is fast becoming a necessity, if we are to raise up a moral generation for Christ.

Quotes from John Taylor Gatto, former New York (Public School) Teacher of the Year, and promoter of homeschooling:
"The example [of homeschooling] is so glaringly positive compared to the example of the other side that inevitably more and more people will be drawn to do this, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it's the best thing to do..."
To homeschoolers, Gatto says:
"What you should be doing is exactly what you are doing now: spending about 90 percent of your time solving the problems of rearing your family decently and bringing the best out of your kids, and giving them a sense of religious purpose and civic purpose and personal power and strength. I've come to believe that most of the power that this other side has is not through their armies; it's through our fear that if we don't do what they tell us to do that somehow we'll lose out. Ignore these people's attempts to infect you with fear. If your kid knows how to read well (I think that's very important), count well, has a good attitude, loves work (sees that work is a grace and not a curse), your kid is practically impregnable."
- from an interview published in Homeschooling Today magazine, January/February 2001

The amount of time it takes to become totally literate is less than you think...
John Taylor Gatto, former public school teacher with 26 years teaching experience and winner of New York State's Teacher of the Year Award for 1991, said this:
"There is abundant evidence that less than a hundred hours is sufficient for a *person to become totally literate and a self-teacher. Don't be panicked by scare tactics into surrendering your children to experts.
Teaching must, I think, be decertified as quickly as possible. That certified teaching experts like myself are deemed necessary to make learning happen is a fraud and a scam. Look around you: the results of teacher-college licensing are in the schools you see."
- from his book, DUMBING US DOWN, copyright 1992.
*I assume Mr. Gatto is referring to older students (perhaps middle school age and older - - - not young children) who may be learning to read for the first time.

The Results of a Dumbed-Down Education...
Sam Blumenfeld, http://thenewamerican.com/opinion/sam-blumenfeld says this:
"The public schoolers have been dumbed-down to become followers, not leaders...Public schoolers live in an artificially extended childhood which requires no adult responsibility, and extended adolescence devoid of analytical thinking."
This certainly seems true of many who have graduated from public schools in the last 20 years or so.
For more info on how our public schools are dumbing down our children, read the book DUMBING US DOWN (The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling) by John Taylor Gatto - an award-winning (former) public school teacher with 26 years of public school teaching experience, who was voted as being New York State Teacher of the Year for 1991.
